The DelAtlantic Soil Conservation District is gaining recognition for its growing role in forestry management across southern New Jersey.

A recent feature by the National Association of Conservation Districts (NACD) highlights how the district has built its forestry program from the ground up—starting with a Technical Assistance grant that enabled the hiring of a professional forester and expanding into a comprehensive service supporting landowners and communities.
Today, DelAtlantic provides forest management planning, supports habitat restoration efforts, and helps address challenges such as invasive species, wildfire risk, and climate change. The district also works closely with partners and local communities to promote responsible land stewardship, improve forest health, and protect valuable natural resources.
The article also sheds light on New Jersey’s often-overlooked forest landscape, including the Pine Barrens and other critical ecosystems that require active management and long-term planning.
